Carbon offsetting crypto continues to gain steam – almost $9m raised
The rise in ESG investing over the past few years has been extraordinary, with almost every major company making a pivot in their corporate operations in order to reflect the shift in investing attitudes.
Companies and funds around the world are often restricted by mandates and incentivised to invest into “green” projects, particularly those that have a more direct focus on reducing or offsetting carbon emissions to protect the environment.
The Impact Project, with their native token IMPT, is capitalising on this trend on investment in the ESG space, and thus far has ben extremely well-received at their presale, having now raised almost $9m.
The carbon credits industry is ripe for change
One of the main problems with the current state of the industry of carbon credits is the utter lack of focus on individuals.
Rather than attempting to reward companies for their reduced carbon emissions, IMPT is instead focused on incentivising individuals.
The way that the team at IMPT do this is by rewarding consumers who “shop responsibly” (shop with companies that high ESG scores) with IMPT as cash back on their spending.
These tokens can then either be held as an investment, traded, or redeemed for NFTs of carbon credits. The process of redemption involves burning IMPT, which makes the token even more scarce.
How high could IMPT price go?
Investors and speculators will be considering the future potential growth of IMPT going forward, and will be particularly interested in potential price targets for the project.
Given that the ESG industry is expected to continue to consistently grow over the next decade and beyond, with companies like Broadridge Financial Solutions predicting that the total market cap of the industry will soon come to exceed $30 trillion, it is clear that IMPT has plenty of room to grow.
